What Does a Site Superintendent Do?
A Site Superintendent is a crucial role in the construction industry, often referred to as the 'captain of the construction site'. As a Site Superintendent, your office will be the great outdoors, or specifically the construction site. This position requires you to be on site almost all of the time, overseeing the daily operations, and ensuring that work is done correctly, on time, and within budget.
Your day-to-day tasks will generally include coordinating with clients, workers, and contractors, and making key decisions on the ground. You'll need to be a great communicator and troubleshooter, as you'll be the one who communicates site plans, deals with unexpected issues, and ensures that safety regulations are strictly followed. An eye for detail is vital as you'll also be responsible for verifying the quality of the work and materials.
But remember, as a Site Superintendent, every day is different! One day you might be knee-deep in mud inspecting foundations, the next you could be on a scissor lift, checking a roof installation. If you love variety, can handle responsibility, and aren't afraid of a little dust and noise, then this could be the job for you.
